Meeting notes from 10-9-13

Our seventh annual ESF Insomniacs event- the Vegan Zombie can not help
host our event this year- now what? Midnight breakfast! breakfast
themed food items, a movie, and activities with prizes
we have sold about half of our Darwin quote t-shirts- we have 23 left.
Let’s try to get these promoted at more of our events- we have sold
enough that we have almost made our money back that was spent on
printing them, so we need to sell more.
We are looking for submissions to revamp our Vegetarian Guide to
Syracuse. Check out the web version at vegsyracuse.com and let us know
if any of the businesses have changed there menu, opened up,or closed
down.
Facebook page- several people were made admins for our new SARO Page.

The next meeting will be a poster making workshop for the insomniacs
event- if you have supplies like posterboard and markers, please bring
them!

SARO General Interest Meetings
These meetings are for anyone who has an interest in being involved in the
club- sit in on a meeting or jump right in your first time to help organize
events on campus that help animals!
When: Wednesdays from 7-8pm for the Fall 2013 semester
Where: Room 110 Moon Library, ESF Campus

Fall Feast Potluck

This potluck will be strictly vegan( no meat, dairy or eggs), with an
emphasis on fall-time food. Think tofurky, mashed potatoes, squash,
cider, sweet potatoes etc. Bring a dish to share- either an entree,
side, desert or drink. If you cannot bring food to share, bring a $5
donation to SARO to fund educational events.
When: Saturday, October 12th 2013 from 6pm-8pm
Where: The event will be held at a SARO member’s home, who lives on
South Campus. You must RSVP here:

This event will be held at a private residence, so please be
respectful of the space. There will be an oven and a microwave to heat
food if needed.

World Anti-McDonald’s Day Protest
Every year on or around October 16th people all over the world come
together in peaceful protest against this corporate junk food giant to
raise awareness about McDonald’s human, animal and environmental
violations. Join us and our fun chicken and french fry costumes while
we distribute packets of information to passerby about healthier,
humane options. Free parking is available in neighboring parking lots.

When: Saturday, October 19th from 3-4pm
Where: McDonald’s 2442 Erie Blvd. East Syracuse, NY
OPTIONAL CARPOOL INFO: Meet on the porch at Recess Coffee & Roastery
at 110 Harvard Pl. at 2:30pm sharp. Look for someone with a sign that
says “SARO carpool meet here”

Potluck/screening party for “Blackfish”
What: The acclaimed documentary Blackfish investigates the terrible price paid
by orcas at SeaWorld by reconstructing the story of a captive orca named
Tilikum, who—after being torn from his family when he was just 2 years old—has
endured nearly two decades of confinement, isolation, and frustration, and as
a result, he has been involved in the deaths of three humans. On October 24,
CNN will be airing the television premiere of this important award-winning
documentary, and we want you to join us to see it!
This is a potluck event- bring vegan snacks, drinks or dessert to share!
When: 8:30pm Thursday, October 24th, 2013
Where: SARO’s member’s home in Manlius, NY
Carpool information: Carpool leaves from Recess Coffee & Roastery at 8pm
sharp- meet on the front porch.
RSVP information: since this event is at a private residence, you will be sent
the exact address the morning of the event.So, you must either meet the
carpool at Recess, or RSVP on the FB event page here:
